The wardrobe is the portal to Narnia in C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Lucy Pevensie discovers the entrance when she hides inside an old wardrobe in a spare room at the country house. Instead of finding the back wall, she walks through hanging fur coats and emerges into a snowy wood in the magical land of Narnia.
The wardrobe is a memorable threshold between the ordinary world and fantasy. Edmund, Peter, and Susan later enter Narnia through it as well, although the children do not all believe Lucy’s account immediately. Their visit brings them into conflict with the White Witch and connects them with Aslan.
The wardrobe should not be confused with a doorway or a separate magical object in another Narnia book. It is specifically the central passage in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the second-published Narnia novel.
