What is the name of the villainous team in the original Pokémon games?

Team Rocket is the villainous team in the original Pokémon games.

In Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, Team Rocket is a criminal organization that steals Pokémon and uses them for profit and power. Its leader is Giovanni, who also serves as the Gym Leader of Viridian City. The player encounters Team Rocket in several parts of Kanto, including Mt. Moon, the Game Corner, Pokémon Tower, and Silph Co.

The group is also central to the animated series, where Jessie, James, and Meowth repeatedly try to capture Ash’s Pikachu. Those characters became the franchise’s best-known Team Rocket members, but they are not the organization’s leaders. Giovanni is the boss in both the games and anime. Later Pokémon generations introduced different villainous teams, such as Team Magma, Team Galactic, and Team Plasma, each with its own goals and regional story.
