What is the name of the village where Harry Potter’s parents lived before their deaths?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter’s parents lived in Godric’s Hollow before their deaths.

Godric’s Hollow is a wizarding village where James and Lily Potter lived with their infant son, Harry. Voldemort attacks the family there on 31 October 1981 after learning about the prophecy concerning a child who might defeat him. Lily’s sacrifice protects Harry, while James and Lily are killed.

The village is named after Godric Gryffindor, one of Hogwarts’ four founders. It is also associated with several other important historical figures, including Bathilda Bagshot and the Dumbledore family. The graveyard becomes a significant location when Harry and Hermione visit the Potters’ graves.

Godric’s Hollow is not the same place as Hogsmeade, the village near Hogwarts. Harry’s parents’ home is destroyed in the attack, and the site later becomes marked by a memorial and by the remains of the family house.
