What is the name of the trio of conspiracy theorists who assist Mulder?
Answer
The Lone Gunmen
Answer
The Lone Gunmen
The trio of conspiracy theorists who assist Mulder is The Lone Gunmen.
The group consists of John Fitzgerald Byers, Melvin Frohike, and Richard “Ringo” Langly. They are government watchdogs, computer hackers, and publishers of a conspiracy-focused newsletter called The Lone Gunman. Mulder regularly turns to them for technical help, classified information, and leads involving paranormal or government investigations.
Their name references the Warren Commission’s conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The series later showed how the three men met in 1989 while helping scientist Susanne Modeski escape a government weapons conspiracy. They first appeared together in “E.B.E.” and received a fuller origin story in “Unusual Suspects.”
A common mix-up is confusing the trio with Kenneth Soona, known as “The Thinker,” an unofficial associate who helped hack government files but was not one of the three Lone Gunmen. The characters also headlined a short-lived 2001 spin-off series, The Lone Gunmen, which ran for 13 episodes.
