Cars on the Road is the television series that followed Pixar’s Cars characters on Disney+ in 2022.
The series centers on Lightning McQueen and Mater as they travel across the United States to attend Mater’s sister’s wedding. Each episode presents a different stop or adventure, allowing the show to explore settings and genres beyond the feature films’ main racing narrative.
Cars on the Road premiered on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, as part of Disney+ Day. It consists of nine short episodes, and Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy returned as the voices of Lightning McQueen and Mater.
The program is distinct from earlier Cars shorts such as Mater’s Tall Tales and Cars Toons: Tales from Radiator Springs. Those productions were collections of shorter installments, while Cars on the Road was released as a connected travel story. The series expanded the Cars universe without being a fourth theatrical feature film.
