The tall tower at Fondazione Prada’s Milan venue is called Torre.
Fondazione Prada’s permanent Milan site opened on 9 May 2015 in Largo Isarco, in the city’s southern area. The complex occupies a former distillery dating from the 1910s, combining renovated industrial buildings with new architecture designed by OMA, the firm led by Rem Koolhaas.
The three new structures are named Podium, Cinema and Torre. Torre is the complex’s tall vertical building and contains exhibition spaces spread across several levels, giving the venue a distinctive landmark within the former industrial site. “Torre” is Italian for “tower,” so it is a proper name rather than a generic description in this context.
A common mix-up is to choose Podium, which is another of the site’s named new buildings but is not the tower. Visitors may also associate the venue with the gold-clad Haunted House, a four-story existing building that is visually striking but is a separate structure.
