What is the name of the tactician character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade?

The story behind the answer

The tactician character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade is named Mark.

Mark represents the player within the story and is generally depicted as a mostly unseen strategist who advises Lyn, Eliwood, Hector, and their allies. Unlike the three main lords, Mark does not normally appear as a battlefield unit. Instead, the character’s presence is expressed through dialogue, narration, tutorials, and the army’s strategic decisions.

The name Mark is the game’s default and commonly recognized name for the tactician. Players can customize the tactician’s name, gender presentation, and other details in versions of the game, which can cause confusion when fans refer to the character by different names. Even so, Mark is the canonical default answer used in most trivia contexts.

The Blazing Blade was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003 and was the first Fire Emblem game released internationally under the simple title Fire Emblem. Its tactician system also helped make the player feel directly involved in the campaign. The game is set on Elibe and serves as a prequel to Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.
