The tablet computer Whisper uses to look up Yo-kai information is the Yokai Pad, commonly styled “Yo-kai Pad” in English-language material. It is one of the franchise’s recurring gadgets and a running reminder that Whisper’s claimed expertise is not always genuine.
Whisper presents himself as a knowledgeable Yo-kai butler after Nate frees him and becomes his companion. When Nate encounters an unfamiliar Yo-kai, Whisper often consults the pad rather than relying on firsthand knowledge. The device functions much like a tablet, providing information and, in some stories, access to other digital features.
The Yokai Pad is easy to confuse with the Yo-kai Watch, but the two devices have different jobs. The Watch lets humans perceive Yo-kai and helps identify or interact with them; the Pad is Whisper’s information tool. The Yo-kai Pad also appears as a gameplay interface in later entries, including Yo-kai Watch 2.
