What is the name of the song Rascal Flatts performs in Pixar’s Cars?

Rascal Flatts performs “Life Is a Highway” in Pixar’s Cars.

The country group’s version plays during a lively travel montage as Lightning McQueen and Mack journey toward California. Its energetic sound matches the long-distance road imagery and became one of the film’s most recognizable musical moments.

“Life Is a Highway” was originally written and recorded by Canadian musician Tom Cochrane. Rascal Flatts recorded a new version specifically associated with Cars, introducing the song to a large family audience. The track also became a commercial success and is strongly linked with the film in popular culture.

Cars contains several other notable songs, which can create confusion. Sheryl Crow performs “Real Gone,” while James Taylor performs “Our Town.” “Route 66” is a separate song performed by Chuck Berry in the film. The exact answer is therefore the Rascal Flatts cover, not another road-themed track from the soundtrack.
