What is the name of the sofa designed by Dalí shaped like Mae West's lips?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of the sofa designed by Dalí shaped like Mae West’s lips? The answer is Mae West Lips Sofa.

The Mae West Lips Sofa is a Surrealist sculpture and piece of furniture shaped like the bright red lips of American actress Mae West. Salvador Dalí created the design with the support of British Surrealist patron Edward James, who commissioned works for his collection in the late 1930s.

The sofa grew from Dalí’s fascination with Mae West and from his earlier visual experiments with her face. His 1934–35 work Mae West’s Face Which May Be Used as a Surrealist Apartment turned the actress’s features into an imagined room; the lips became a real three-dimensional object.

The original versions were produced in 1937–38, and examples are held by institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Dalí Theatre and Museum, and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Later manufacturers produced authorized and derivative versions, so the design is often encountered in furniture and design history as well as fine art.

The sofa is commonly confused with Dalí’s Lobster Telephone or Rainy Taxi, but those are separate Surrealist objects. Its canonical name directly identifies both its form and its inspiration.
