What is the name of the short-film series featuring Mater’s tall tales from Pixar’s Cars?

Mater’s Tall Tales is the short-film series featuring Mater’s stories from Pixar’s Cars.

The series is officially part of Cars Toons and began with short episodes centered on Mater, the rusty tow truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. Each story presents Mater claiming to have played an extraordinary role in an event, often alongside Lightning McQueen.

A recurring joke is that Mater’s stories become increasingly implausible, while the films still treat him as an enthusiastic and sincere storyteller. Lightning usually participates as a friend, even when the events Mater describes seem impossible.

Cars Toons is the broader branding used for the franchise’s animated shorts. Mater’s Tall Tales is the specific title of the best-known group of episodes, so the two names are related but not interchangeable in a precise title question.
