What is the name of the short film series featuring Mater’s exaggerated stories in the Cars universe?

Mater’s Tall Tales is the short film series featuring Mater’s exaggerated stories in the Cars universe.

The series is also known as Cars Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales and centers on Mater recounting supposedly heroic adventures from his past. Each story places him in a different genre or situation, such as firefighting, stunt performance, or space travel, while Lightning McQueen often reacts to the tale.

The shorts use a comic framing device: Mater tells the story, and the events appear to happen as he describes them. At the end, another character may confirm part of the story or reveal that Mater’s account is not as straightforward as he claims.

Mater’s Tall Tales began airing in 2008, after the first Cars film and before Cars 2. It is separate from the feature films and from the later series Cars on the Road, which follows Mater and McQueen on a road trip.
