Holley Shiftwell is Finn McMissile’s British intelligence colleague in Pixar’s Cars 2.
Holley is a high-tech spy car who works with Finn McMissile during the international espionage plot. She is voiced by Emily Mortimer and is presented as an intelligent, capable field agent with advanced equipment. Her name combines a conventional first name with “Shiftwell,” a mechanical pun fitting the Cars universe.
Cars 2 expands the setting far beyond Radiator Springs. The story travels through Japan, Italy, and the United Kingdom as Lightning McQueen competes in the World Grand Prix. Mater becomes involved in the spy mission after being mistaken for an undercover operative, while Finn and Holley investigate a conspiracy connected to the race.
Holley is sometimes confused with Sally Carrera, Lightning’s friend and the town attorney in the first film. Sally is voiced by Bonnie Hunt, whereas Holley is a new character created specifically for Cars 2. The film was released in 2011 and was directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis.
