What is the name of the school cook at Lakewood Elementary?

The school cook at Lakewood Elementary is Mrs. MacGrady.

Mrs. MacGrady, whose first name is Sarah, prepares food for Arthur and the other students at Lakewood Elementary. She is more than a background cafeteria employee: the series presents her as a warm, wise adult who is part of the wider Elwood City community. She is especially friendly with Arthur's grandmother, Grandma Thora.

Her role helps make Lakewood feel like a functioning school rather than just a classroom setting. Cafeteria scenes also give the show opportunities to explore friendship, kindness, school routines, and the relationships children build with trusted adults.

Viewers sometimes confuse Mrs. MacGrady with characters whose names are associated with Lakewood, such as Muffy Crosswire, Paige Turner, or Mr. Haney. Mrs. Crosswire is Muffy's mother, Paige Turner is a teacher, and Mr. Haney is the principal. MacGrady is specifically the school's cook.
