The Radiohead song with the repeated refrain “all I need” is “All I Need.” It appears on the band's seventh studio album, In Rainbows, released in 2007.
“All I Need” is a slow, atmospheric song built around a repeating piano figure, bass, electronic textures, glockenspiel and swelling strings. Its lyrics describe intense obsession and unrequited love, giving the track a deliberately intimate but uneasy mood. The song concludes the first half of In Rainbows and gradually expands into one of the album's most dramatic crescendos.
Radiohead first performed the song publicly in Chicago on June 20, 2006. Jonny Greenwood wanted the recording to capture the overwhelming sound of a loud band, so a string ensemble played every note of the musical scale to create a dense wall of sound. The studio version combined several recordings and production layers.
The track is sometimes confused with “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi,” another In Rainbows song, because both are atmospheric fan favorites. “All I Need” was later issued as a promotional single in the United States in January 2009.
