What is the name of the race announcer voiced by Darrell Waltrip in Pixar’s Cars?

Darrell Cartrip is the race announcer voiced by Darrell Waltrip in Pixar’s Cars.

Darrell Cartrip is a blue stock car who provides energetic commentary during the Piston Cup races. His name is a pun combining the voice actor’s first name with the word “trip,” while his appearance and speech reflect the world of American stock-car racing.

Darrell Waltrip, a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, supplied the English voice. His professional racing background helped give the broadcasts an authentic motorsport flavor. The character appears alongside Bob Cutlass, who is voiced by sports broadcaster Bob Costas.

Darrell Cartrip is not one of the racers competing for the Piston Cup. Chick Hicks and The King are competitors, and Lightning McQueen is the rookie contender at the center of the story. This distinction matters because the announcer’s name resembles the real driver’s name but identifies a fictional commentator.
