The prospector toy who becomes an antagonist in Toy Story 2 is Stinky Pete.
Stinky Pete, also called the Prospector, is a boxed toy based on the fictional television program Woody’s Roundup. He is discovered alongside Jessie and Bullseye when Woody is taken by toy collector Al McWhiggin.
At first, Stinky Pete appears to be a friendly elder figure within the Roundup collection. His goals become clear when he opposes Woody’s wish to return to Andy. Stinky Pete fears being left unsold and believes museum display in Japan would give the collection lasting importance.
Stinky Pete is sometimes confused with Al, the human collector who steals Woody, or Bullseye, the loyal horse toy. They are separate characters with different roles in the plot.
