What is the name of the powerful ring forged by Sauron?

The powerful ring forged by Sauron is called the One Ring. Sauron creates it in the fires of Mount Doom to control the other Rings of Power and dominate their bearers.

The One Ring contains much of Sauron’s own power, which makes it extraordinarily dangerous. Its destruction is therefore central to the plot of The Lord of the Rings. The ring can be destroyed only in the same volcanic fire where it was made.

Bilbo Baggins finds the ring in The Hobbit after taking it from Gollum beneath the Misty Mountains. Bilbo later gives it to Frodo, who carries it toward Mordor with the Fellowship’s support.

The ring is sometimes confused with other named rings in Tolkien’s legendarium. Narya, Nenya, and Vilya are the Three Elven Rings, while the Ring of Barahir is an heirloom associated with Aragorn’s lineage. None has the controlling role of the One Ring.
