Skipper is the captain of the penguin team in the Madagascar film series.
He leads the four penguin characters who first appear in Madagascar and later star in The Penguins of Madagascar. The group includes Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private. Their comedy often comes from treating ordinary zoo escapes and missions as military operations.
Skipper is characterized as decisive, confident, and action-oriented. Kowalski usually acts as the team’s inventor and planner, Rico specializes in carrying and retrieving unusual objects, and Private is the youngest and most sensitive member.
The character names are sometimes mixed up because the penguins work as a unit. Skipper is the leader, not the strategist or youngest member. The character also appears in the 2014 spin-off film The Penguins of Madagascar and the television series of the same name.
