What is the name of the pelican that helps Marlin?

The pelican who helps Marlin is Nigel.

Nigel is a pelican who regularly visits the fish living in Philip Sherman’s aquarium. After learning about Marlin’s search for Nemo, he carries news of Marlin’s journey to the tank gang and later helps Marlin and Dory reach the dentist’s office in Sydney.

Nigel becomes especially important when Nemo appears to be dead after being removed from the tank. Nigel witnesses the scene, reacts with sympathy, and ultimately helps transport Marlin and Dory back to the office. His actions connect the open-ocean search with Nemo’s aquarium storyline.

Nigel is voiced by Geoffrey Rush. He is not related to Gerald, another pelican seen in the film, although Gerald’s role was reduced during production. The names Edward, Kevin, and Gerald therefore do not identify the pelican who assists Marlin in the finished story.
