What is the name of the oval-shaped ball used in Snow Day mode?

The story behind the answer

In Rocket League’s Snow Day mode, the oval-shaped ball is a hockey puck.

Snow Day reimagines Rocket League as an ice-hockey-inspired variant. The ordinary spherical ball is replaced with a heavy, disc-shaped puck, creating very different play. It slides across the icy surface, rebounds differently, and changes how players plan clears, passes, wall shots, and defensive blocks.

The mode was introduced during Rocket League’s Winter Games event in December 2015. Its arenas use snowy versions of familiar stadiums, including DFH Stadium and Utopia Coliseum. Although the cars and basic objective remain recognizable, the puck’s flat shape makes ground play especially important and gives skilled players distinctive techniques such as puck pinches.

The wording can cause a small visual mix-up: a hockey puck is technically a short cylinder or disc rather than an oval ball. In the context of the game, however, “hockey puck” is the single canonical answer. Basketball belongs to Hoops, while a soccer ball is used in standard Soccar.
