What is the name of the official residence of the President of France?

The official residence of the President of France is the Élysée Palace. In French, it is called the Palais de l'Élysée and stands at 55 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris's 8th arrondissement.

Construction began in 1718 for Louis Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Count of Évreux, and the residence was completed in 1722. Its earlier name was the Hôtel d'Évreux. Over the centuries, it belonged to or housed notable figures including Madame de Pompadour and banker Nicolas Beaujon before becoming associated with the French state.

The building was officially designated the French president's residence by law on December 12, 1848. It contains both private residential rooms and presidential offices, and it also hosts the weekly Council of Ministers meeting. The Élysée Palace is not the Château de Versailles, which is a former royal residence and museum, nor the Palais Royal, which has a different institutional history.
