What is the name of the New Mexico ranch where Georgia O'Keeffe lived and worked?

The story behind the answer

Ghost Ranch is the New Mexico ranch where Georgia O'Keeffe lived and worked.

Ghost Ranch lies near Abiquiu in northern New Mexico, amid dramatic cliffs and broad desert views. O'Keeffe first visited the area in 1934 and later rented a house there. The landscape became a major source of motifs for her paintings, including brightly colored hills, eroded formations, and distant mountain forms.

She also maintained a strong connection to Abiquiu, where she eventually acquired and restored a historic adobe house. Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu are related but distinct places. O'Keeffe's paintings from both locations are often grouped together because they share the light, geological forms, and sparse vegetation of northern New Mexico.

Ghost Ranch had a history before O'Keeffe's association with it and later became a retreat and education center. Its popular identity is therefore broader than the artist's biography, although her paintings helped make the landscape internationally recognizable.
