What is the name of the main villain in Rocky III?

The story behind the answer

The main villain in Rocky III is Clubber Lang, the powerful Chicago heavyweight played by Mr. T.

Lang rises rapidly through the boxing ranks while Rocky Balboa is enjoying fame, wealth, and a long series of comfortable title defenses. He challenges Rocky publicly, accusing the champion of avoiding serious competition. Rocky accepts, but his poor preparation and Mickey Goldmill’s collapse before the bout leave him vulnerable. Lang then knocks Rocky out in the second round and becomes heavyweight champion.

The character is often confused with other Rocky opponents. Ivan Drago is Rocky’s rival in Rocky IV, Tommy Gunn is the antagonist of Rocky V, and Mason “The Line” Dixon appears in Rocky Balboa. Lang returns for a rematch in Rocky III, where Apollo Creed helps Rocky develop a faster, more technical style. Rocky wins that fight by third-round knockout and regains the title.

Mr. T’s performance made Lang one of the franchise’s most recognizable villains, while the film’s theme song, “Eye of the Tiger,” became a major pop-culture hit.
