Answer
Snaefell Mountain Course
Answer
Snaefell Mountain Course
The main road course used for the Isle of Man TT is the Snaefell Mountain Course. It is a closed-road circuit that runs through towns, villages and mountain roads on the Isle of Man.
The course is named after Snaefell, the island’s highest mountain, and is commonly called the Mountain Course or TT Mountain Course. Its modern lap is roughly 37.7 miles long and contains hundreds of bends, jumps, elevation changes and fast sections bordered by walls, hedges and buildings.
The TT did not use this course when the event began. The inaugural races in 1907 and the events through 1910 were held on the shorter St John’s Short Course. The TT moved to the Snaefell Mountain Course in 1911 as motorcycles became faster and the organizers sought a longer, more demanding route.
A frequent mix-up is confusing the TT course with the Manx Grand Prix venue. The Manx Grand Prix also uses the Snaefell Mountain Course, but it is a separate event with its own classes and history.
