What is the name of the main character in the film Encanto?

The main character in Encanto is Mirabel Madrigal. She is a 15-year-old member of the Madrigal family and the only one who does not receive a magical gift during the family’s coming-of-age ceremony.

Mirabel becomes the story’s central figure when the family’s magical house, Casita, and its enchanted candle begin to lose their strength. Rather than solving the crisis through supernatural powers, she investigates the family’s tensions and helps them confront the pressures they place on one another.

Several other Madrigals are important but are not the protagonist. Isabela can grow flowers, Luisa possesses extraordinary strength, and Bruno can see visions of the future. Mirabel’s ordinary status is central to the film’s theme: her empathy, persistence, and willingness to understand her relatives become her defining strengths.

Stephanie Beatriz provides Mirabel’s English voice. Encanto was released by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2021 and is set in a magical community inspired by Colombia.
