What is the name of the main character in Assassin's Creed II?

The story behind the answer

The main character in Assassin's Creed II is Ezio Auditore.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze is a Florentine nobleman whose life changes after members of his family are executed as part of a political conspiracy. He becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood and spends much of the game pursuing those responsible while uncovering a broader Templar plot.

The story begins in Renaissance Italy in 1476 and visits places including Florence, Monteriggioni, Venice, and Forlì. Ezio's journey is shown across several decades, allowing the game to follow his development from a young aristocrat into an experienced Assassin. Leonardo da Vinci, Caterina Sforza, and Niccolò Machiavelli are among the historical figures appearing in the narrative.

Ezio is not the protagonist of the first game; that role belongs to Altaïr. He also differs from Connor Kenway and Edward Kenway, who lead later games set largely in North America and the Caribbean.
