The magical sport created by J.K. Rowling for Harry Potter is Quidditch. It is played by two teams of seven players who fly on broomsticks and try to score through three opposing hoops.
A match uses four balls: one Quaffle, two Bludgers, and one Golden Snitch. Chasers handle the Quaffle, Beaters deal with Bludgers, and each team has a Keeper and a Seeker. Catching the Golden Snitch traditionally ends the match and awards 150 points.
The sport is central to Hogwarts life and appears throughout the Harry Potter books. Harry plays as Gryffindor’s Seeker, while Oliver Wood serves as the team captain early in the series.
Real-world versions of the sport were later developed by fans and universities. Those games generally use modified rules and do not involve actual flying, but the name and concepts originated in Rowling’s fictional wizarding world.
