Neverland is the fictional island where Peter Pan’s adventures take place. It is a fantastical setting populated by Peter, the Lost Boys, fairies, pirates, mermaids, and other extraordinary inhabitants.
In Barrie’s stories, Neverland is closely linked with childhood imagination and differs from ordinary geography. Time and age do not operate there in a normal way, which allows Peter to remain a boy while Wendy and her brothers eventually return home and grow older.
Neverland is sometimes treated as a single, fixed island, but Barrie’s descriptions vary across his works. The name became the standard label in later adaptations, including films, stage productions, and television versions. It should not be confused with Wonderland, the setting of Lewis Carroll’s Alice stories.
