What is the name of the largest chamber in Carlsbad Caverns National Park?

The story behind the answer

The Big Room is the largest chamber in Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

Also called the Hall of the Giants, the Big Room is a vast limestone chamber inside Carlsbad Cavern in southeastern New Mexico. It covers about 357,000 square feet, making it the largest chamber in the cave and the largest cave chamber in North America by floor area.

The chamber is decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, columns, draperies, and other cave formations created as mineral-rich water moved through limestone. Visitors can reach it by descending through the natural entrance or by taking an elevator from the visitor center.

Carlsbad Caverns became a national park in 1930 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The Big Room is only one part of a much larger underground system; the park contains more than 119 caves, including Lechuguilla Cave, which is known for its deep passages and delicate formations.
