Ezio Auditore is born in Florence in Assassin’s Creed II.
Florence is the opening major setting for Ezio’s story and the home of the Auditore family. The game begins in 1476, when Ezio is a young Florentine nobleman. After tragedy destroys his family, he escapes the city and gradually becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood.
Players later visit several other Italian locations, including Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Forlì, Venice, and Rome. Because Venice receives substantial attention later in the game, it is a common mistaken answer. Florence remains Ezio’s birthplace and the setting where his personal quest begins.
Assassin’s Creed II uses Renaissance Italy as its historical environment. The game combines real figures such as Leonardo da Vinci and Lorenzo de’ Medici with fictional characters and the series’ ongoing conflict between Assassins and Templars.
