The international governing body for karting is the CIK-FIA.
CIK-FIA stands for Commission Internationale de Karting–FIA. It is the FIA commission responsible for international kart racing, including technical regulations, safety standards, competition rules and major championships. It is also commonly branded as FIA Karting.
The commission was founded by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile in 1962. It oversees international competitions such as the Karting World Championship and European championships, while recognizing classes including OK, OK-Junior, KZ and KZ2.
A common mix-up is treating FIA alone, WKA or IKF as the answer. FIA is the parent international motorsport federation; WKA and IKF are national or regional karting organizations in the United States. CIK-FIA is the specifically identified international authority for kart racing.
