What is the name of the hotel’s concierge played by Ralph Fiennes in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel?

The story behind the answer

Ralph Fiennes plays hotel concierge M. Gustave in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.

M. Gustave is the legendary concierge of the Grand Budapest Hotel in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka. He is known for his exacting service, elaborate manners, and relationships with wealthy older guests. After one of those guests dies, Gustave becomes entangled in an inheritance dispute and a murder investigation.

The story is framed through the memories of Zero Moustafa, who begins as the hotel’s lobby boy and learns the profession from Gustave. F. Murray Abraham plays the older Zero, while Tony Revolori plays the younger version.

The title “M.” is a French honorific meaning “Monsieur,” so the character is often referred to as Monsieur Gustave. Fiennes’s performance earned major award recognition, while the film became one of Anderson’s most decorated productions.
