What is the name of the hockey-based game mode in Rocket League?

The story behind the answer

The hockey-based game mode in Rocket League is Snow Day. Instead of a soccer ball, Snow Day uses a flat hockey puck, changing how it bounces, slides, and reacts to walls and cars.

Snow Day was introduced as a limited-time mode during Rocket League’s early post-launch development and later became a permanent extra mode. Its icy arenas and puck-focused physics make passing and shooting feel very different from standard soccer matches.

Players sometimes confuse Snow Day with Hoops, another alternate mode, but Hoops replaces the soccer goals with basketball hoops while keeping a ball. Rumble also uses the regular ball and adds randomized power-ups, so neither is the hockey variant.

Snow Day has also developed its own competitive techniques, including controlled puck carries, wall passes, and shots designed to keep the puck low. Because the puck slides differently from the ball, familiar soccer mechanics do not always transfer perfectly.
