What is the name of the haunted-looking abandoned race track in Pixar’s Cars?
Answer
Thomasville Speedway
Answer
Thomasville Speedway
Thomasville Speedway is the abandoned race track featured in Pixar’s Cars 3.
Lightning McQueen visits Thomasville while training with Cruz Ramirez and Doc Hudson’s former mentor, Smokey. The location is connected to Doc’s racing past and to the historic stock-car culture that existed before the newer, highly technological generation of racers dominated the sport.
The track and surrounding town evoke the American South and the history of older racing circuits. Smokey uses the site to teach McQueen that experience, strategy, and teamwork can matter as much as raw speed. The training helps McQueen rethink how he can compete with Jackson Storm.
Thomasville Speedway is not the same as the Los Angeles International Speedway, where the original film’s championship race takes place. It is also different from the fictional Motor Speedway of the South, which appears in the first Cars during the Piston Cup finale.
