Lockout is the Halo multiplayer map built inside a massive Forerunner structure on Delta Halo.
Lockout is a compact Halo 2 arena set in a snowy, industrial-looking Forerunner facility. Its layered platforms, narrow bridges, teleporters, and exposed sightlines make vertical positioning central to its gameplay. The map became one of the best-known competitive arenas in Halo 2 and was later remade as Blackout in Halo 3.
The map’s name is frequently confused with other classic Halo arenas. Ascension is another Halo 2 map with strong vertical play, but it is a large outdoor platform rather than Lockout’s enclosed facility. Midship is a Covenant ship interior, while Guardian is a Halo 3 map with a different environment and layout.
Lockout’s popularity led to repeated reinterpretations in later games. Its recognizable structure, control points, and weapon routes helped make it a landmark of early Xbox Live Halo multiplayer.
