Kimberly J. Brown played Marnie Piper, the central young character in the Halloweentown film series.
Marnie begins as a curious teenager who discovers that she comes from a magical family. In the first film, she follows her grandmother Aggie Cromwell to Halloweentown, a parallel community populated by witches, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings.
Halloweentown premiered on Disney Channel on October 17, 1998. Brown returned as Marnie in Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge and Halloweentown High. The fourth film, Return to Halloweentown, recast the role with Sara Paxton, which became a notable point of fan controversy.
Sophie and Dylan Piper are Marnie’s younger siblings, while Aggie is her grandmother. Those family connections explain why the alternative names can sound plausible, but Marnie is the character most closely identified with Brown and the series.
