What is the name of the grouchy green monster who lives in a trash can?

The grouchy green monster who lives in a trash can is Oscar the Grouch. He is one of Sesame Street’s most recognizable Muppets, known for his irritable attitude, green body, and love of trash.

Oscar was created by Jim Henson and head writer Jon Stone for Sesame Street, which premiered in 1969. His favorite song is “I Love Trash,” and many stories revolve around his collecting objects that everyone else considers useless. Although Oscar often complains about the other residents, he occasionally shows kindness, especially toward children and his friends.

Viewers sometimes assume Oscar’s trash can is an ordinary container. In Sesame Street stories, however, it is magically much larger inside than it appears outside. It has been described as containing rooms and unusual amenities, including a swimming pool, bowling alley, and even an ice rink. Oscar’s species is called a Grouch, and his long-running girlfriend is another Grouch named Grundgetta.
