What is the name of the futuristic city where most of Judge Dredd's stories are set?
Answer
Mega-City One
Answer
Mega-City One
Most Judge Dredd stories are set in the futuristic city of Mega-City One.
Mega-City One is a huge urban center on the eastern coast of what was once the United States. In the world of 2000 AD, nuclear war and social collapse transformed the former country, while surviving populations concentrated in immense cities. Mega-City One is portrayed as crowded, chaotic, heavily policed, and governed by a system in which Judges act as police officers, judges, and executioners.
Judge Dredd is one of the city's most prominent Judges. He works for the Hall of Justice and enforces the severe legal code known as the Law. The setting allows stories to combine satire, science fiction, crime, and exaggerated urban problems.
Readers sometimes confuse Mega-City One with other locations in the Judge Dredd universe. Mega-City Two is a separate western city, Brit-Cit is based in Britain, and East-Meg One is a city associated with the former Soviet bloc. Mega-City One remains Dredd's principal home.
