What is the name of the four-door Mini SUV?

The four-door Mini SUV is the Mini Countryman. It was introduced in 2010 as Mini’s first subcompact crossover SUV and became the brand’s larger, more practical alternative to its small hatchbacks.

Unlike the classic two-door Mini saloon, the Countryman was designed around family use, with substantially more passenger and cargo space. Its body has four side doors plus a rear hatch, which is why descriptions may call it a four-door SUV or, more technically, a five-door SUV.

The name can be confused with Traveller, which was used for estate versions of the classic Mini, or Clubman, which describes a separate long-wheelbase estate and hatchback line. Paceman was another related Mini crossover, but it used a sportier, coupé-like body and was not the standard four-door SUV answer.

The Countryman has appeared in several generations. Depending on the model year, it has been offered with front-wheel drive or Mini’s ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, as well as petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains.
