What is the name of the Formula One circuit in Austin, Texas?

The Formula One circuit in Austin, Texas, is called the Circuit of the Americas.

Usually abbreviated as COTA, the track is located southeast of Austin and was purpose-built to host Formula One racing. It opened in 2012 and became the venue for the United States Grand Prix, helping return the event to the Formula One calendar after a five-year absence.

The 5.513-kilometre Grand Prix layout has 20 corners. Its design by Hermann Tilke, working with Tavo Hellmund and motorcycle champion Kevin Schwantz, draws inspiration from famous sections of other circuits, including Silverstone, Hockenheim and Istanbul Park. The steep uphill approach to Turn 1 is one of its most recognizable features.

COTA is not the same as Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which hosted the United States Grand Prix from 2000 to 2007. Watkins Glen and Laguna Seca are also historic American racing venues, but neither is the Austin Formula One circuit. COTA has additionally hosted MotoGP, NASCAR and endurance racing.
