What is the name of the first Yo-kai Watch movie?

The story behind the answer

The first Yo-kai Watch movie is titled Yo-kai Watch: The Movie. It is a 2014 Japanese animated supernatural adventure film and is known in Japan by the longer title Eiga Yōkai Wotchi: Tanjō no Himitsu da Nyan!, meaning roughly “Yo-kai Watch: The Secret of Birth.”

The film follows Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan after the Yo-kai Watch is stolen. They travel back in time with help from Hovernyan and encounter Nate’s grandfather, Nathaniel Adams, as a child. The story explores how the first Yo-kai Watch was created and why the relationship between humans and Yo-kai matters.

The movie premiered in Japan on December 20, 2014, and was produced by OLM and distributed by Toho. It is often confused with the second film, which centers on King Enma and five connected stories. In the United States, the first movie received a special one-day theatrical screening through Fathom Events in October 2016.
