What is the name of the first book in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia publication order?
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first book published in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia. It appeared in 1950 and introduces the Pevensie children, who enter Narnia through a wardrobe.
The story features a Narnia trapped in endless winter under the rule of the White Witch. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy become involved in the conflict that brings Aslan back into the land. Although later editions may list the books in internal chronological order, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the first Narnia story released to readers.
The Magician’s Nephew is set earlier in Narnian chronology, which causes the most common ordering confusion. Publication order and fictional chronology are therefore different. Lewis wrote seven Narnia novels, and The Last Battle concluded the series in 1956.
