What is the name of the fictional land created by C.S. Lewis in his most famous fantasy series?

The story behind the answer

Narnia is the fictional land created by C.S. Lewis for The Chronicles of Narnia.

The series follows human children and other inhabitants through a world of talking animals, mythical beings, kings, queens, and magical events. Narnia is both a country and, in broader usage, the name readers often apply to the entire imagined setting.

Lewis published seven Narnia novels between 1950 and 1956. The books do not all take place in the same era: The Magician’s Nephew describes Narnia’s creation, while The Last Battle depicts its final transformation. This wide timeline gives the series a history extending beyond any one group of human protagonists.

Narnia is sometimes confused with other famous fantasy settings, especially Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Tolkien and Lewis were friends and fellow members of the Inklings, but Middle-earth belongs to Tolkien’s writings, while Narnia belongs to Lewis’s.
