Answer
The Prancing Pony
The Prancing Pony is the fictional inn in Bree where Frodo meets Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.
The inn is run by Barliman Butterbur and stands in the town of Bree, a settlement where Men and Hobbits live near the eastern edge of the Shire. Frodo, Sam, and Pippin stay there during their journey to Rivendell, using the name Mr. Underhill to conceal Frodo’s identity.
Aragorn is introduced at the inn under the name Strider. Although the hobbits initially distrust him, Butterbur’s explanation and Gandalf’s letter help establish that Strider is an ally. The inn therefore becomes an important meeting point between the peaceful Shire and the dangers beyond it.
The Green Dragon is another Tolkien inn, but it is located in Hobbiton rather than Bree. That distinction is a frequent source of confusion.
