Paititi is the fictional hidden city explored in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft reaches the city during her search for a powerful Maya artifact and her attempt to prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
The game’s Paititi is inspired by legends of a lost Inca city sometimes associated with the Amazon region. It is presented as a living hidden community rather than simply an abandoned ruin. Lara can explore its districts, interact with residents, and pursue story missions connected to the city’s leadership and religious traditions.
Paititi is easy to confuse with Kitezh, the lost city sought in Rise of the Tomb Raider, or Yamatai, the island setting of Tomb Raider (2013). Atlantis is a major location in earlier Tomb Raider mythology, but it is not the hidden city of the 2018 game.
The location allows Shadow of the Tomb Raider to combine jungle exploration, underwater traversal, tomb puzzles, and cultural settings. Its depiction is fictionalized for the game’s adventure narrative rather than a literal recreation of a confirmed archaeological site.
