What is the name of the evil version of Morty?

The story behind the answer

The evil version of Morty is called Evil Morty. The character is an alternate Morty Smith who becomes one of Rick and Morty’s most important recurring antagonists.

Evil Morty first appears in the season-one episode “Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind,” initially presented as Eyepatch Morty alongside a supposedly villainous Rick. The eyepatch is actually a mind-control device that allows him to control that Rick, revealing that Morty—not Rick—is the mastermind.

He later adopts political identities, including Candidate Morty and President Morty, within the Citadel of Ricks and Mortys. In the season-five finale “Rickmurai Jack,” Evil Morty explains that he wants to escape the Central Finite Curve, a region of the multiverse organized around realities where Rick is the smartest person.

The name “Evil Morty” is partly ironic: his goal is not simply villainy, but freedom from the system built and controlled by Ricks. He is voiced by Justin Roiland in earlier seasons and by Harry Belden beginning with season seven.
