What is the name of the English region home to the Lake Poets?

The story behind the answer

The English region home to the Lake Poets is the Lake District. Located mainly in Cumbria in north-west England, it is known for dramatic fells, glacial valleys, and lakes such as Windermere, Ullswater, and Derwentwater.

The Lake Poets were William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Robert Southey. Their connection was geographical as well as literary: Wordsworth lived at Grasmere and later Rydal Mount, Coleridge spent time in Keswick and with the Wordsworths, and Southey lived in Keswick for four decades. The group helped make the region a defining landscape of English Romantic poetry.

The Lake District was shaped by repeated glaciations, which carved its U-shaped valleys and deep lake basins. It became a national park in 1951 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. A common mix-up is confusing it with the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales; those are separate English national parks, while the Lake Poets are specifically associated with the Lakes.
