What is the name of the Elvish homeland ruled by Galadriel and Celeborn in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings?

The story behind the answer

Lothlórien is the Elvish homeland ruled by Galadriel and Celeborn in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

The Fellowship reaches Lothlórien after escaping Moria and losing Gandalf. The realm lies between the Misty Mountains and the Anduin, and its people live among the mallorn trees. Galadriel and Celeborn receive the travelers, provide counsel, and give them gifts before the Fellowship continues its journey by river.

Lothlórien is also called Lórien and the Golden Wood. Its unusual beauty and resistance to the passing of time are associated with Galadriel’s Ring, Nenya, one of the Three Rings of the Elves. Rivendell is Elrond’s refuge, Mirkwood is a separate woodland realm farther east, and Valinor is the Blessed Realm beyond Middle-earth.
