What is the name of the drag strip in Gainesville, Florida?

The story behind the answer

The drag strip in Gainesville, Florida, is Gainesville Raceway.

Gainesville Raceway is a quarter-mile dragstrip located just outside Gainesville, Florida. It opened in 1969 and became closely linked with the National Hot Rod Association’s Gatornationals, one of the most important events on the professional drag-racing calendar.

The first Gatornationals was held at the track in 1970, and the event has remained a major annual fixture. The facility has hosted numerous milestone performances, including Kenny Bernstein’s first officially recognized 300-mph Top Fuel run during qualifying for the 1992 Gatornationals.

Do not confuse Gainesville Raceway with similarly named road-racing venues or with the other raceways in the options. Darlington Raceway is a NASCAR oval in South Carolina, Palm Beach International Raceway is in south Florida, and Atlanta Dragway was in Georgia. Gainesville Raceway is specifically the NHRA drag facility associated with Gainesville and the Gatornationals.
